Ralph Lauren expands its MLB collection with a limited-edition capsule – WWD

Just in time for the playoffs, Ralph Lauren is expanding its partnership with Major League Baseball.

On Oct. 7, the brand will launch Polo Ralph Lauren x MLB, which it describes as an “extremely limited release” fall capsule for the Yankees, Dodgers and Red Sox. The collection consists of an edited assortment of woolen baseball jackets with leather patches, fleece hoodies and joggers, as well as a canvas and leather tote, all in colorways black on black.

In 2018, lifelong baseball fan Ralph Lauren threw out the first pitch at a Yankees game to commemorate his brand’s 50th anniversary. Along with this, his company created a Polo x Yankees collection which included a Wilson leather mitt with the Ralph 50th logo, a New Era hat and “RL 50” logo, a Rawlings baseball with a pony logo, and a Ralph Lauren embroidered satin baseball jacket. The collection sold out almost immediately, leading the company to expand its partnership with MLB to include New Era polo shirts, jackets, sweatshirts and caps for adults and children, as well as polo shirts and special team-themed Polo Bear sweatshirts for the Yankees, Dodgers, Cub Scouts and Cardinals.

This capsule introduces the Red Sox to the assortment, which the brand says is more directional with a modern design aesthetic incorporating a luxury fashion sensibility and everyday comfort.

The collections will be available for purchase beginning October 7 on The Polo App in North America, select specialty stores, mlbshop.com, MLB’s flagship store in New York, select stadium stores and Ralph Lauren stores across the worldwide, select wholesale stores in the EU, The Polo App in the UK, and ralphlauren.com in Asia.
