MLB and Nike launch second year of City Connect uniform program
Major League Baseball and Nike today announced the seven participating clubs in this year’s City Connect uniform program. The seven clubs announced today will join the inaugural seven clubs that participated in 2021, making a total of 14 clubs that will be sporting City Connect uniforms on the pitch by the end of the season.
Launched last season, the Nike MLB City Connect program was created to celebrate the connection between each Club and its city. This series of uniforms explores the personality, values and customs that make each community and its people unique. Nike and MLB clubs have partnered to design jerseys inspired by their cities to celebrate new baseball traditions and invite more fans into the game of baseball.
The second year of the Nike MLB City Connect program will highlight seven additional clubs, including: Colorado Rockies, Houston Astros, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Angels, Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres and the Washington Nationals. The Nike MLB City Connect Series uniforms will be unveiled through July.
Leading the 2022 City Connect series are the Washington Nationals, whose jersey pays homage to the majestic capital of the United States and the proud, diverse and creative people of all walks of life who call it home. Drawing inspiration from the annual spring bloom of cherry blossoms that abound around the Potomac Basin, a sign of the promise of new beginnings and the possibilities of a new season, the jersey features a charcoal base color, a floral print of cherry and a touch of pink on the borders. The “WSH” graphic on the front of the shirt reflects the power and strength of neoclassical architecture found throughout the district. On the left sleeve, the District of Columbia crest is a tribute not only to America’s first president, but to all Washingtonians past, present, and future.

City Connect field debut schedule
To complement the player uniform designs, longtime MLB Authentic Collection partners New Era & Stance worked with clubs, MLB and Nike to develop official City Connect on-field caps and socks.
Nike is the Official Uniform and Footwear Supplier of MLB. This partnership provides Major League Baseball players with uniforms developed by Nike’s innovative design team and includes the Nike Swoosh, as well as a base layer, outerwear and all training apparel for 30 MLB clubs. .
