MLB 2022 Trade Deadline Live Blog: Follow the Guardians’ latest moves and more

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Major League Baseball trade deadline has passed, and while the Guardians only made one minor trade, several moves were made that could impact the rest of the season. of Cleveland.

Minnesota traded three pitchers, including Detroit reliever Michael Fulmer and Reds right-hander Tyler Mahle in exchange for several top prospects.

National slugger Juan Soto quit the board as soon as San Diego reached an agreement with Washington to acquire his services along with first baseman Josh Bell in what some observers are calling a historic prospect crop.

The Guardians sent wide receiver Sandy Leon to Minnesota in exchange for RHP Ian Hamilton. Manager Terry Francona told reporters earlier that he didn’t expect the club to be involved in too many deals, and he was right.

  • 5:42 p.m. Raisel Iglesias moves from the Angels to the Braves for reliever Jesse Chavez and prospect pitcher Tucker Davidson.
  • 5:39 p.m. Milwaukee added veteran relief pitcher Trevor Rosenthal as part of a deal with the Giants for minor league outfielder Tristan Peters.
  • 5:02 p.m. Tampa Bay traded outfielder Brett Phillips to the Baltimore Orioles for cash.
  • 4:51 p.m.. Cleveland sends receiver Sandy Leon to Minnesota in exchange for RHP ian hamilton. Hamilton spent the entire season at Triple-A St. Paul, posting a 1.88 ERA in 23 relief outings.
  • 4:45 p.m. The Mariners acquire veteran receiver Curt Casali from the Giants for RHP Michael Stryffeler.
  • 4:28 p.m. San Diego is still making trades. The Padres acquired Brandon Drury and his 20 homers from the Reds in exchange for No. 6 SS prospect Victor Acosta.
  • 3:58 p.m. Minnesota takes a big step by trading three prospects to the Reds for RHP Tyler Mahle. Infielders Spencer Steer (#7 prospect) and Christian Encarnacion-Strand (#23) and LHP Steve Hajjar (#18) will travel to Cincinnati in trade.
  • 3:43 p.m.. The Mets are sending Single-A pitchers Nick Zwack and Carson Seymour along with JD Davis and Thomas Szapucki to the Giants for Darin Ruf.
  • 3:40 p.m. Philadelphia also acquired CF Brandon Marsh from the Angels for Double-A wide receiver Logan O’Hoppe.
  • 3:38 p.m. The Phillies are closing in on David Robertson of the Cubs. Right-hander Ben Brown is the compensation. Brown, Philadelphia’s No. 26 prospect, is 3-5 with a 3.08 ERA at Double-A Reading.
  • 2:27 p.m. Eric Hosmer appears to be heading to Boston after turning down a trade with the Nationals. Padres will almost certainly eat most of his remaining $39 million salary over the next three years.
  • 2:24 p.m. The Yankees send struggling outfielder Joey Gallo to the Dodgers in exchange for Double-A pitcher Clayton Beeter. Beeter is Los Angeles’ No. 15 prospect.
  • 1:42 p.m. Toronto is getting the bullpen help it needs with right-handed relievers Anthony Bass and Zach Pop heading to the Miami Blue Jays. The Marlins get SS Jordan Groshans in return. Pop is a ground ball specialist and Bass dominated with a 26% strikeout rate.
  • 12:58 The Soto/Bell deal with the Padres will pass, but without Hosmer. The veteran 1B has refused to waive his no-trade clause and will remain with San Diego for now.
  • 11:58 First baseman Eric Hosmer is the latest piece in the Soto trade. He has three years and $39 million left on his contract that Washington will have to absorb. The Nationals are also on a 10-team no-trade list for Hosmer, so he’ll have to consent to the deal before it becomes final.
  • 11:48 The Padres have reached an agreement with Washington for superstar outfielder Juan Soto and first baseman Josh Bell. The Nationals will receive a boatload of prospects in exchange for the HR derby champion. The return for Soto and Bell includes LHP MacKenzie Gore, SS CJ Abrams, OF Robert Hassell III, OF James Wood and RHP Jarlin Susana. Another major league player is believed to be included in the package.
  • 10:42 Minnesota takes a big step by bringing the Baltimore All-Star closer to Jorge Lopez in exchange for four prospects. Left-handers Cade Povich and Juan Rojas along with right-handers Yennier Cano and Juan Nunez head to the Orioles.
  • 9:43 am Houston sends RHP Jake Odorizzi to Atlanta in exchange for Braves reliever Will Smith.
  • 9:29 The pursuit of Soto in San Diego intensifies. The padres are said to be working on a package that includes Washington’s Soto and Josh Bell.

  • Milwaukee adds relief pitcher Matt Bush from Texas and sends infielder Mark Mathias and left-hander Antoine Kelly to the Rangers.
  • St. Louis is acquiring left-hander Jose Quintana and right-hander Chris Stratton from Pittsburgh for a pair of prospects in right-hander Johan Oviedo and third baseman Malcom Nunez.
  • Outfielder Tommy Pham is heading to Boston in a trade from Cincinnati. The Reds will receive a player to be named later or cash rewards.
  • Boston is shipping receiver Christian Vazquez to Houston in exchange for infielder/outfielder Emanuel Valdez and minor league outfielder Wilyer Abreu.
  • The White Sox are adding to their bullpen with Boston left-handed reliever Jake Diekman. Receiver Reese McGuire is heading to the Red Sox to replace Vazquez.
  • Houston also picks up slugger Trey Mancini from Baltimore in a three-team deal that includes Tampa Bay. The Astros get right-hander Jayden Murray from the Rays. Tampa gets outfielder Jose Siri from Houston. The Orioles receive minor league right-handers Seth Johnson (from Tampa) and Chayce McDermott (from Houston).
  • Right-hander Frankie Montas and closest Lou Trivino head to New York from Oakland in exchange for a set of prospects including left-handers Ken Waldichuk and JP Sears, right-hander Luis Medina and second baseman Cooper Bowman.
  • The Braves get infielder Ehire Adrianza from the Nationals in exchange for OF Trey Harris.
  • The Cubs trade right-handed reliever Scott Effross to the Yankees for minor league right-hander Hayden Wesneski.
  • Milwaukee and San Diego kick off Monday’s frenzy with a blockbuster that sends All-Star Josh Hader to San Diego in exchange for closer Taylor Rogers, left-handed pitching prospect Robert Gasser, outfielder Esteury Ruiz and right-hander Dinelson Lamet.
