The Tigers enter the short set after winning their first series in nearly three weeks as they were able to take two of three from the Arizona Diamondbacks. That puts Detroit at 2-4 on this road trip, and 9-14 this month. Now 16 games under .500, the Tigers are just two games ahead of the Kansas City Royals, who sit in the cellar at American League Central, while Detroit are 12.5 behind the Twins. of Minnesota. They are also 12 games away from a Wild Card spot.

It’s been another ultra-competitive season in National League West, and the Giants find themselves on the outside looking into the playoff picture coming up Tuesday night. They currently sit third in the division, six games behind rivals the Los Angeles Dodgers and one game behind the Atlanta Braves, who hold the second-largest Wild Card in the NL. After losing their last three-game series with the Cincinnati Reds, the Giants are now 12-12 in June.

The Tigers enter the series having won their last two series against NL opponents, and are 7-6 this season in interleague play. After taking two of three from the Royals earlier this month, the Giants are 6-2 against AL teams in 2022.

It will be the first time since 2017 that these two franchises have met, with the Giants holding a 14-8 record against the Tigers.
