Details announced for 2022 MLB Draft and MLB Draft Combine

Major League Baseball officially announced details for the 2022 MLB Draft and Draft today. July, while the Draft Combine will be held at Petco Park in San Diego from June 14-20. MLB Network will once again provide extensive coverage of the MLB draft and draft.

The draft will consist of 20 rounds spread over three days, including the first two rounds, compensatory rounds and competitive balance rounds on the opening night of the draft. Day two selections will include picks in Rounds 3-10, while the final day will cover Rounds 11-20. For the third time in history, the Orioles will have the first draft selection. The top 300 draft-eligible players, as identified by USA Baseball and MLB clubs, will be invited to participate in the 2022 draft with up to 30 additional invites. The Combine will provide players with the opportunity to participate in a series of medical and performance evaluations as well as educational programs designed to prepare them for careers in professional baseball. All players will have the opportunity to participate in a pro-style training session, as well as strength and performance evaluations. The first Draft Combine in 2021 was held at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina and the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. More than 150 draft-eligible players attended the 2021 Combine, including Henry Davis, who also attended the 2021 draft and was the top overall selection.
