Black and white uniforms across MLB for Players Weekend 2019 – SportsLogos.Net News

Major League Baseball’s most colorful event of the year will be a little less so in 2019.

This afternoon, the players’ weekend uniforms for 2019 were unveiled by both the league and the Major League Baseball Players Association, the uniforms, from head to toe, are either monochromatic black or white monochromatic – the home team for each match getting the first pick. black or white, with their opponent getting the opposite (and yes, players’ nicknames will be on the back of the shirts again)

“Inspired by players’ style choices while off the field, fashionable monochrome uniforms allow each custom accessory design to stand out more than ever,” the league said in the press release. “During Players Weekend, photo shoots will be conducted with players at baseball diamonds to highlight the outstanding designs, which will be amplified on social media between MLB, MLBPA, clubs and most importantly, the individual player accounts using #PlayersWeekend.”

“A patch honoring [late Angels pitcher] Tyler Skaggs will also be available for all players to wear on their uniforms, should they wish.

The caps will be all white or all black, again depending on the uniform worn by the team, with the team logo on the front also recolored to match the crown.

The black jerseys will have each team’s wordmark in black edged in silver, the white jerseys the same. Most teams will use their usual jersey logo except for a handful – the White Sox have a new script and the Mariners will continue with the wordmark logo that was worn on their players’ weekend uniforms last season.

The monochromatic look continues on the back of the shirt for each player’s number, the players’ nicknames will be plain silver.

White team pitchers will wear black caps with their uniform to avoid any problems with batters seeing the ball. They will be the only position player on each side to wear a different cap from the rest of the team.

Batters will wear a matte black or matte white helmet, with no team logo on the front. Therefore, every game in the league will see the same helmets used.

This is the third season of the Players’ Weekend event, first introduced in 2017, the idea for these designs was to mimic a Little League uniform with bright, vibrant colors worn across the league. A reminder of that look here.

The 2019 Players Weekend promotion will run from August 23-25, all black and all white uniforms will be worn for all games played on these dates.
